The final of the fifth season of Peaky Blinders left us speechless. It was already obvious that a sixth season would follow. The health crisis having shaken up the film industry, Peaky Blinders was not spared, however.

Release date?

The sixth season is confirmed. As early as August 2019, director Anthony Byrne told our British colleagues at GQ British that he "begins the sixth season in early November. Then we start filming early next year, that's the plan". Filming began in March 2020 with the director revealing that the first episode was titled "Black Day".

The series generally makes its fans wait a year and a half between each season. Season 6 should logically land at the end of 2020 or 2021. The health crisis has however put an end to production, stopping on the 23rd day the shooting scheduled for 78 days. "Sending love and courage to Peaky fans everywhere. We will be back as soon as possible, I promise, to cause chaos and head shots, as usual," said Cillian Murphy, who plays Thomas Shelby according to proposers reported by Anthony Byrne, director of the series, in an interview granted on Instagram.

The casting (spoiling)

Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby: almost obvious. We will also find Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Helen McCrory as aunt Polly, Sophie Rundle as Ada Shelby, Finn Cole as Michael Gray, Harry Kirton as Finn Shelby and Natasha O'Keeffe as Lizzie Stark. However, we will not see Aidan Gillen as Aberama Gold or Kingsley Ben-Adir as Colonel Ben Younger, as the two characters were killed in season five. However, we learned at the end of season 5 that Alfie Solomons (played by Tom Hardy) was still alive: he could be appearing again in this sixth season.

The plot (spoiling)

This sixth season will take place in the early 1930s and in the United Kingdom, unemployment and poverty levels are high. Season five ended with the failure of Tommy's assassination plot against Sir Oswald Mosley. How will Shelby handle this failure? Who is the mole in this operation? Season six will answer these questions.
