Toyota Rav4 PHEV: Starting from 67065$

With an electric range of over 65 km and a cumulative power of 306 hp, the Rav4 PHEV will shake up the segment of plug-in hybrid SUVs.
After a first test on the Prius, Toyota is about to expand its range of plug-in hybrid models. The next candidate announced by the Japanese giant for this technology is the SUV Rav4, whose PHEV version (for Plug-in Hybrid Electriv Vehicle) is expected for next fall.

4 wheel drive of 306 hp
The battery capacity has not yet been disclosed, but it should be generous since the electric range is announced as greater than 65 km, a record for the category. This battery capable of delivering 95 kW (129 hp) transiently makes it possible to reach without difficulty 135 km / h in "zero emission" mode in order to be able to practice the highway with complete peace of mind, and carries the cumulative power of the chain of traction at 306 hp in hybrid mode. A respectable cavalry transmitted to the 4 wheels via a 4 cylinder 2.5 atkinson cycle of 176 hp and two electric motors (one at the front, the other at the rear) allowing the Rav4 PHEV to pass from 0 to 100 km / h in only 6.2 s. For comparison, the 300hp Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 claimed 6.5s over the same year.

The Japanese SUV also claims a practicality almost preserved with a 460-liter trunk. Last technical detail which is of great importance, in electric mode, the heating is provided by a heat pump, a device much more efficient than that, traditional resistance and therefore less penalizing for autonomy "zero emissions" in winter. Announced for a CO2 emission less than 29 g / km, the Rav4 PHEV will therefore escape any penalty, and for professionals, any TVS (tax on company vehicles). On the other hand, its price is high, starting at $ 67065$, or $ 13,000 more than the hybrid version of 222 horses with 4-wheel drive. For comparison, the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 sees its prices start at $ 53,800.
