SpaceX Crew Dragon, two astronauts from NASA, docked on Sunday at the International Space Station.
The docking of the spacecraft and the terminal began at 10:16 a.m. EST (14.22 GMT), and it took a few minutes to complete.
The two astronauts, Bob Bunken and Dag Hurley, are veterans of the space shuttle program that was suspended in 2011. One of them told the observation center that "docking is complete."
"It is a great honor to be a small part of this effort which has taken nine years since the last time an American spacecraft docked with the International Space Station," he said.
After docking, the passageway connecting the vehicle to the station will be compressed in a process that takes about an hour, after which it can be opened.
