Suarez: Playing without an audience would be strange

Barcelona striker Luis Suárez, Thursday, said that going into matches without an audience would be strange, a week before the resumption of "La Liga" activity that was suspended three months ago due to the crisis arising from the outbreak of the Corona virus.

Suarez, 33, was out of action in January after undergoing surgery on his right knee, but he may return on June 13 when the leader and title holder Barcelona travel to Mallorca in his first match since last March.

The Uruguayan international told the club's website: "I feel very good. I adapt to the training with my team mates." Returning after an injury is always difficult, because you are a little scared, but I enjoy going back.

"La Liga" announced on Sunday that the league competitions will resume on June 11 in the Andalusian derby between Seville and Real Betis behind closed doors, within the twenty-eighth stage, and that the season ends on July 19 in the last thirty-eight stage. Players will be subject to the safety protocol for several months and the fans will not return to the stands again until next year.

Suarez added: We are not used to playing in such heat in the middle of summer. We adapt to play without an audience, which would be strange.

He continued: We will continue our focus on winning matches to win the league title, which is what we always want, with the passage of time, everything is back to normal, despite the death of many people.

Barcelona leads the championship standings with 58 points, two points behind rivals Real Madrid, 11 stages before the end of the season.
